LANDOWNER OF THE YEAR AWARD ANNOUNCED

(Concord, NH) - The NH Division of Parks and Recreation, Bureau of Trails, announces that Bob and Sandy Green of Green Woodlands in Lyme, NH were presented with the Second Annual Landowner of the Year Appreciation Award on May 14th.

The Landowner of the Year Appreciation Award was developed last year to recognize landowners who open their private lands for authorized traditional public recreational opportunities. The partnerships between the users, the clubs, and the landowners are vital to maintaining the public trails system in New Hampshire. For many years now, the Greens have opened their private lands for a variety of recreational uses such as snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and hiking. The generosities of private landowners like the Greens are the cornerstones of the public recreational trails system in our state.

As part of the presentation at the NH Snowmobile Association's annual meeting, letters of recognition were given to the Greens from Senator John E. Sununu, Jason Stock of the New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association, R. Sean O'Kane, Commissioner of DRED, and Allison McLean, Director of New Hampshire State Parks. The Greens were also recognized by many snowmobile clubs for allowing public snowmobile use on their property and for assisting the clubs with the grooming of the trails when the clubs needed help. The Bureau of Trails is a part of the NH Division of Parks & Recreation, which is part of the Department of Resources and Economic Development.
