Windows and doors are the most critical component next to insulation for having an efficient building envelope. We chose Loewen Windows and Doors not only for their technical insulation specifications but for their commitment to environmental stewardship. Loewen is the first major North American window and door manufacturer to receive Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification (SW-COC-1739) for Douglas Fir wood used in their window and door products. Bottom line is that all wood used in windows and doors for the Green Woodlands Barn/House project come from sustainably managed forests and the chain of custody from forest to mill to manufacturing and distribution of these products are certified by independant auditors.
