After each timber is scribed, cut and put together it is marked and then taken apart. On raising day all of the pieces need to come back together. Each piece is marked with a symbol which tells the timber framers were in the building that specific piece goes to and what it connects to.

Over 600 pegs are needed to hold the timber frame together. We chose oak to make the pegs. The method used below dates back hundreds of years and is fascinating to watch as pegs are made from an oak log in a relatively short period of time.
